A spring Picnic
I am in my second semester of ceramics and my mom constantly would ask me if I would make her a fruit bowl for our kitchen. This fruit bowl was my inspiration for my art show collection. I have made a unique picnic set, it doesn’t contain the most conventional or standard elements of a picnic kit. All of my pieces are wheel-thrown and for a cohesive aspect, I wanted to go with shades of blue and green glaze. I have learned a lot about how the glaze can change in the kiln and alter the piece. For my lemon juicer, which is by far my favorite, I chose to glaze a bright yellow. I thought it would add a fun pop of color and the yellow would match the lemons that would go with it. I also made a little jug, I imagine that this could be used to hold homemade lemonade. Overall I am happy with how my pieces turned out even with some colors different than planned. I see my image of a spring picnic and I hope that you can too!
